Photo Restoration

You may have old photographs of the family that are torn, faded or scratched. We can reverse this damage. You may want us to change the background of a photograph, remove people or objects, create a mount or recreate missing areas. Photo restoration makes all of this possible. Your original photograph remains unaltered and will be returned to you unharmed.

At Digital History we take pride in restoring your old photographs so that they can once again take centre stage in your photograph album. Photo restoration can also be used to produce an enlarged copy of all or part of the picture.

As an example of what can be done look at the original image on the right. All of the images on this page originated from this one original.

Photographic restoration varies from minor through to extensive and the various levels of complexity are reflected in our price list. All prices include emailing restored photographs back to you in a format of your choice (bmp, jpg or tiff) provided that your email system can accept the file size. We can also supply your photographs on CD.

On sight of your photographs we can provide you with a free quotation.

Once you have decided to go ahead we will scan your photographs to create a digital image that can then be restored or manipulated. If you prefer not to entrust your precious photographs to the post you may prefer to scan them yourself and send the images to us by email or use our file upload facility.

If you intend to scan your photographs yourself remember that the quality of the photo restoration possible depends on the quality of the original scanned image, please check our scanning tips page first so that we can advise you of the best settings to use. If you are still not sure then email us for advice. We are always pleased to hear from you and share our experience.

All restored photographs are either printed on photographic paper, transferred to CD or emailed to you. Prints are normally produced on standard 6"x4" photographic paper but enlargements can be made up to A4 size provided the original scanned image is of good enough quality.

The choice is yours. We will advise you throughout the process.
